Debit Card Breach | | At Central Maine Federal Credit Union, we have the security of your financial information as our highest priority. As you use your card in the market place, however, not all merchants and vendors maintain that same level of security. We have been notified that some unauthorized person may have access to your VISA Debit Card.
We have been advised that a local merchant was hacked into and card information was stolen. The information stolen would allow thieves to create a duplicate card and access your account.
In order to provide the highest level of protection to our members in these situations, we will block your card if we suspect fraudulent activity and contact you. We will then order you a new card that you should receive within three weeks. You should receive your new PIN three days after receiving your new card.
If you are leaving the state on vacation or for business during this time, please contact us and we will do our best to get a new card to you sooner. If you use AnyTime Access online banking or MARTY, please contact us immmediately if you notice unauthorized activity on your account. If you can live without your debit card until your new card arrives, please contact us to block your debit card sooner.
If you have more than one debit card tied to your checking account, we will only block and reissue a card for the card that has been compromised. If you have a VISA Credit Card with us that has been compromised, you will receive a separate letter from us.
Our Card Services department is working overtime and we are utilizing other staff members to help deal with this situation. Please be patient if you call us and have to leave a message in our voice mail. We will return your call as soon as possible. Numerous phone calls slow down the process of getting new cards into the hands of our members. Please only call us if absolutely necessary and rest assured that we are working diligently to minimize the inconvenience to our members.
We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause you. More than 800 members have been impacted. Central Maine Credit Union is in no way responsible for this breach of security.
