Explanation of Criteria Used to Determine BAUERFINANCIAL Star Ratingtm
Financial data is compiled for credit unions as reported to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), the governing body for credit unions. The star ratings classify each credit union based upon a complex formula which factors in relevant data including, but not limited to: capital, historical trends, loan delinquencies, differences in the book and market values of the investment portfolio, profitability, repossessed assets, reserves, charge-offs, regulatory compliance and asset quality. (Although credit unions are not-for-profit institutions, losses can impact capital and safety.)

How Do I Join?
To open a membership, you will need to deposit $10.00 in a membership account, which you are required to keep open as long as you use credit union products and services. To establish your membership, visit the credit union with an unexpired photo identification such as a drivers license, passport or State of Maine ID. The USA Patriot Act requires that we obtain proof of your physical address. Therefore, if your unexpired photo ID does not show your current physical address or shows a P.O. Box, then please bring some evidence of your physical address, such as a cable bill, electric bill, or pay stub. It takes about 15 minutes to open a new membership.
Why Should I Join?
Your Credit Union is a unique financial organization. While our services are comparable to other financial institutions, our mission is very different. We exist to provide service to our members. When you're a member of a credit union, the money you deposit is loaned to other members...people who live and work in your community. Unlike for-profit banks, the profits of your credit union are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, lower and less fees and higher dividend rates.
Members of Central Maine Federal Credit Union are eligible for numerous products and services such as free Value Checking with free online banking, free e-statements and free bill pay service, no minimum balance requirements and no per check fees. Did we mention it's free? Central Maine Credit Union members have access to more than 200 surcharge-free ATMs throughout Maine!
